You got the loom, now what? Come to our rigid heddle workshop where you’ll learn about looms and their parts, weaving tools, yarn selection, and weaving terminology. Then we will learn how to warp the loom, weaving basics (beating tension, even selvages) and finishing techniques. You will learn by doing. This class starts before the shop opens...we WILL be letting you in early! :)
This workshop is designed for students new to rigid heddle weaving or students who have gotten their feet wet with a little bit of weaving. For the first three times the class is offered we will be weaving scarves while playing with color patterns and plain weave. So, the project will be different each month but appropriate for the first-time weaver and those wanting to warp and weave on their next project with a little help and support from me.
Our October project will be a beautiful, drapey scarf done in plain weave using two skeins of Malibrigo Rios, one mostly solid-colored and one more variegated. This scarf is on display in the shop.
Don’t have a loom, but always wanted to learn to weave? No problem, Jen is an Ashford Dealer and can order everything you need to get started.
