Introduction to Amigurumi

Amigurumi is a style of crochet (and sometimes knitting) used to make people, animals, creatures or objects. It is very popular now, but the techniques have been around for a long time. Have you been wishing you could try it? Most amigurumi are made using simple crochet stitches and techniques. Many people find it easier than regular crochet!

In this class, we will be learning the stitches and techniques that are used in many amigurumi patterns. We will start by making a crocheted ball, and then add a tail, ears and other details to create a little cat. We’ll even discuss how you could modify the pattern to make other animals.

I’ve made many crocheted animals for my kids and as baby presents, so I have lots of tips to share with you. Although I have also knitted small animals, I find that crochet patterns are not only more available, they are also often simpler and less fiddly. I hope that you will join me and grow to love making new stuffies for kids, and adults, to love.

No prior crochet experience necessary.
