Homework for Highway Hat
Select your size first!
Finished size:
Sizes: S (M, L). To fit head circumference: 16-18 (18-22, 22-24)’’ If you are using a light worsted/worsted you will want to knit the size smaller than you would usually choose. Note that because of the incredibly stretchy fabric created by the brioche stitch any hat can be stretched or blocked out to fit most sizes. It will fall to a matter of taste.
HOMEWORK: Using the smaller needle, and CC yarn cast on 102 (114- 126) sts using a looser cast on method (I use long tail cast on over double needles). Join carefully without twisting the stitches and place a marker for beginning of round. Knit ribbing (p1, k2) until work measures 9 cm / 3.5 ’’. Switch to larger needle and work one additional round (p1, k2tog), 34 (38-42) sts reduced. (68 (76-84) sts on needles)
