Afterthought Heel Sock



Afterthought Heel - $25 – 2 Hours – Instructor: Jen Reeves

Saturday, October 26th  – 2pm to 4pm

There are so many ways to create a sock, let Jen teach you her favorite! You will come to class with a tube, cut into your work and create a heel! This class keeps you on the edge of your seat, but soon you will be finding ways to cut into more than just socks!

Must come with a completed tube sock and be ready to cut!
Requirements:
Afterthought Sock Homework Measure your foot from the toe to the top of where you would like your cuff to be. Take that measurement and subtract 2 inches. This will be the length of the tube before you start the toe. You can make the tube using whatever method you like (DPN, Magic Loop, 9 inch circ...but please bring a 32 to 40 inch circular in the size that you knit your tube). Using US1.5 (or whatever size you enjoy for socks) and Fingering Weight Yarn CO64 Using the measurement above, knit your tube to the length, then knit the toe as follows (Please note: if you are using 9 inch circs you will need to switch to Magic Loop or DPN for the toe): Toe Using 4 DPN: Round One: Needle 1 and 3: K1, SSK, K all remaining stitches. Needle 2 and 4: Knit until 3 stitches remain, K2tog, K1. Round two: Knit all stitches Work these 2 rounds until 6 stitches remain on each needle-24 total stitches. Combine stitches on needles 1 & 2 onto a single needle. Combine stitches on needles 3 & 4 onto a single needle. Using a tapestry needle, Kitchener the toe, and weave in all ends. Make another sock if you like! Toe Using Magic Loop: Round One: K1, SSK, Knit until 3 st remain on 1st needle, K2tog, K1. Repeat on second needle. Round two: Knit all Stitches Work these 2 rounds until 12 stitches remain on each needle. Using a tapestry needle, Kitchener the toe and weave in all ends. Make another sock if you like! On class day bring your finished tube sock, a long circular needle (32 or 40 inch) the same gauge that you used to knit the sock and SHARP scissors!!!
