Introduction to Weaving - $75 – 5 Hours – Instructor: Teresa Waldo

Saturday, January 22nd 2pm to 5pm AND Saturday, Feb 5th 10am to Noon

In this two-part class you will learn the fundamentals of tapestry weaving including warping your loom, various weaving techniques and tips, weaving structures (stripes, meet and separate, hatching, soumak, dots, pick and pick, weft interlock, and building shapes), and finishing a tapestry piece. As you learn and practice these skills you will be creating mini tapestry pieces suitable as mug rugs. After completing this course, you will be well equipped to further your tapestry endeavors.

Materials Provided: Mini Loom Kit, cotton thread (warp and spacer), felt backing, sewing thread, extensive tutorial handout

Materials Student Should Bring to Class: Scraps of worsted weight wool yarn in at least 3 colors, scissors, several tapestry needles with eye large enough for threading yarn through
