Entrelac Scarf - $35 – 4 Hours – Instructor: Sandy Buzzelli

Date Available: Saturday, October 7th 10am to 2pm

Entrelac knitting creates a unique and intriguing woven-look fabric, and it’s rather fun and easy to do!

The art of entrelac knitting requires just a few special skills: picking up stitches, increasing, decreasing, and working short rows, all of which we’ll learn as we knit a stunning entrelac scarf.

We’ll also have a chance to practice “knitting back backwards” – a skill that makes entrelac knitting easier to do and will have your friends thinking you’re a knitting genius!

Prerequisite: you should know how to cast on, knit, purl and bind off.

Two-at-a-Time Toe-Up Socks - $40 – Two 2.5 Hour Sessions – Instructor: Sandy Buzzelli

Date Available: Thursday, October 19th AND 26th 6pm to 8:30pm

If you’re a sock knitter, you’re probably familiar with this scenario: you’ve just finished knitting a sock, and you feel a pleasant sense of accomplishment and satisfaction. Then a feeling of dismay takes over because you realize you now have to knit the whole project all over again to get a (hopefully) matching pair of socks, and gone is the joy as you realize you have little motivation to knit that second sock!

Despair not, because we have the cure for the dreaded one-sock-itis – knit both socks at the very same time! You’re guaranteed to have two socks by the time you’re done, and both socks will be exactly the same – no more trying to remember what you did on the first sock. We’ll be knitting our pair of socks from the toe to the cuff – making it easy to get a good fit, and we won’t have to worry about running out of yarn on the second sock.

In this class, we’ll learn how to navigate the process of knitting two at once, and we’ll explore several different methods for casting on, for knitting the heels, and for binding off at the cuffs.

Whether you knit your socks using the Magic Loop or two circular needles, you can learn to knit two socks at the same time.

Prerequisite: you should know how to knit one sock at a time, cuff down or toe up.

Moebius Cowl - $30 – 3 Hours – Instructor: Sandy Buzzelli

Date Available: Thursday, November 9th 6pm to 9pm

Cat Bordhi describes Moebius knitting as magical and playful! Although it looks quite mysterious, we’ll soon discover that it’s a deceptively easy technique to master.

In this class, we’ll be knitting a simple and beautiful seed stitch Moebius cowl.

Prerequisite: you should know how to cast on, knit, purl and bind off.

Twined Hat - $30 – 3 Hours – Instructor: Sandy Buzzelli

Date Available: Thursday, November 16th 6pm to 9pm

Twining is a Swedish knitting technique that uses both ends of one ball of yarn to create a knitted fabric that is both warm and wind resistant.

In this class, we’ll learn how to twine the rib stitch and the knit stitch while creating this colorful twined hat. We’ll also explore some traditional twined knitting stitches and color patterns.

Prerequisite: you should know how to cast on, knit, purl and bind off.

Understanding Crochet Diagrams and Symbols - $35 – 4 Hours – Instructor: Sandy Buzzelli

Date Available: Saturday, November 18th 10am to 2pm

Many crocheters rely only on the written instructions when following a pattern, ignoring the confusing-looking diagrams because they're, well, confusing! Because crochet diagrams are an actual representation of what we're trying to create, they can be an indispensable resource when a pattern's words are confusing or when we're just not sure where to insert our hook. In this class, we'll make sense of crochet diagrams and symbols as we crochet the popular African Flower motif and explore other crochet stitch pattern diagrams, too.

Prerequisite: you should know how to chain, single crochet, half double crochet and double crochet, and be generally familiar with crocheted fabric.

Helix Knitting for Jogless Stripes - $35 – 4 Hours – Instructor: Sandy Buzzelli

Date Available: Saturday, December 2nd 10am to 2pm

If you’ve ever knit stripes in the round, you know that a “jog” occurs at every color change. A number of great techniques have been developed for knitting “jogless stripes,” and perhaps the most ingenious of these techniques is helix knitting. We’ll knit the colorful and aptly named Perfect Stripes hat as we explore the wonders of helix knitting, and we’ll learn a fun and unusual method for finishing the crown of the hat.

Prerequisite: you should know how to cast on, knit, purl, bind off and how to knit a hat in the round on 16” circular needles.
